Since 1997, over 1000 individuals have been awarded the CIT designation. More recently, there has been discussion and reflection, based on industry needs and legal counsel, that to ensure these individuals remain current in industry best practices and knowledge, that a recertification program be designed and implemented.
IMPORTANT PRE-COURSE READING REQUIREMENT - Individuals who hold the Certified Ice Technician (CIT) professional designation and are seeking recertification are strongly advised to review all Guidelines and Best Practices documents that are located in the Resource Centre.
All CIT holders are required to recertify every five years. CIT designation holders may recertify by way of the following options:
- Collect and log a minimum of 50 professional development credits OR
- Participate in the CIT Recertification Course and write the exam OR
- Write the online CIT challenge exam OR
- Participate in the Professional Ice Maker course and write the exam
