The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our municipal priorities and day-to-day work activities, including the emergency suspension of the Assessment Review Board (ARB) appeals process. As a result, many municipalities will face heavy appeal workloads in August and September, while continuing to manage other challenges.

To help municipalities consider their ongoing involvement in appeals, these sessions, created collaboratively by OMTRA, MFOA, and MPAC's Joint Education Working Group, have two primary objectives:
1) act as a refresher related to the ARB schedule and,
2) discuss what you should be focusing on related to upcoming or current general stream proceedings.

We will begin the series with a Webinar on July 28, 2020 that will include a refresher and information on what is happening now, with time for questions and discussion. The session presenters for this webinar are:

  • Maureen Zabiuk, OMTRA Past-President & Manager, Property Tax & Assessment, City of Vaughan
  • Steven Radenic, OMTRA Director of Education & Supervisor, Assessment Base Management, Town of Milton
  • Krista O’Brien, OMTRA Director of Communication & Program Manager for Tax Billing and Control, City of Ottawa
  • Georgia Ribeiro, Director of Case Management, MPAC

A second webinar on August 11 will be interactive, and focused on panel discussion about what’s next and what you need to know.
