This vacancy is only available for students. Enrolment in a full-time post-secondary education program is mandatory.

The Water Resources Division of Saanich Engineering provides professional services for the management of the municipal sanitary sewer, potable water and storm drainage systems. We also provide GIS and Surveying services for the greater Department. We are recruiting for a Student Survey Technician to join our fast paced and diverse team to assist in a variety of surveying and geomatics duties including survey field work, engineering calculations and CAD drawing preparation. The successful candidate will use Robotic Total Stations and GNSS instrumentation, complete engineering topographic surveys, record cadastral ties and underground utility connections; collect field data, processes and performs adjustments on raw survey data to produce finished CAD drawings; and carries out mathematical survey calculations. Other related duties may also be assigned.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of one year post-secondary education; current enrolment in a full time post-secondary education program; valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence; physically fit to perform field duties; and one month of related work experience. Preference will be given to those enrolled in a Geomatics or Engineering Program at a University or Technical Institution. Enrolment in a full time post-secondary education program is mandatory. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week) on a flex schedule.

As a component of the selection process, testing will also be conducted.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $31.22 per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
