Come join our team for an exciting career in local government. Saanich Street Operations is seeking an Operations Worker III. The Operations Worker III will be responsible for: completing a variety of road maintenance and construction tasks in the maintenance, construction and repair of municipal street infrastructure; technical and manual work involving the coordination and leadership of a crew of workers and equipment operators; the delivery of capital works projects; responding to and investigating complaints from the public and initiating corrective action; may be required to respond to emergency and storm events as they arise.

Requirements

Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; three years’ experience directly related to road maintenance, construction; introductory supervisory skills training or one year of experience directing the work of others; a valid B.C. Class 3 Driver’s Licence with air brake endorsement; Occupational First Aid Level I Certificate; Traffic Control Person Certificate; (Training will be provided in Municipal Pavement Maintenance Certification and Certification in Snow and Ice Control); annual renewal of Driver’s Abstract; and sufficient health, physical conditioning, strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of heavy manual work in all weather conditions. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).

As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. 

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $40.73 per hour and an excellent benefits package. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
