Description
The City of Pitt Meadows is recruiting an Equipment Operator V to operate a variety of equipment used throughout the City. Reporting to the Manager of Operations, this position is responsible for the routine servicing, maintenance and operating of equipment such as excavators, graders, gradalls, sanders, snowplows, and other lesser classes of equipment. They may also be required to perform minor supervisory duties and assist other Equipment Operators. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in operating heavy, medium and light equipment. They will also have a strong sense of initiative in planning ahead to ensure equipment is operated efficiently, effectively and safely.
Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm, however, a compressed work week schedule may be considered. Depending on operational needs, there may also be opportunities for scheduled overtime.
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses in flagging, safety and first aid plus considerable experience in all levels of equipment operation and truck driving in Municipal construction and maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Unrestricted Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Endorsement.
- Considerable experience in the operation of heavy, medium and light construction equipment.
- Knowledge in the operation of both diesel and gasoline motors.
- Experience working in a Municipal environment is considered an asset.
- Effective communication skills and ability to establish positive working relationships.
- Ability to safely and effectively perform work outdoors under all weather conditions.
Salary & Benefits
- CUPE Wage Rate: $39.39/hr (2024 rates) + 12% in lieu
