About the Role

Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Community Programs; Fitness and Recreation, it is the role of a Fitness Instructor is to conduct a variety of fitness classes at a variety of locations in the Municipality and ensure the health and safety of all participants.  This includes preventing accidents, responding to emergency situations, and demonstrating strong public relation skills. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting a variety of fitness classes at a variety of locations in the Municipality.
  • Monitoring and reporting class attendance and participation.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all participants, including preventing accidents and responding to emergency situations, including administering first aid when required.
  • Following all Municipal policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including those specific to the department.

What you bring

  • Current Fitness Leadership Training (OFC, CanFit Pro, YMCA, SFIC or equivalent). Fitness instructors are required to maintain appropriate certifications.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C”.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Strong public relations, customer service and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

What we offer

  • Rate of Pay: $39.66 per hour (2026 rate)
  • Hours of work: up to a maximum of 24 hours per week including days, evenings, weekends and holidays at any municipally operated Community Services Department facility. 

Additional Information

A satisfactory criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening and proof of qualifications will be required for the successful candidate.

Pre-employment testing may consist of written and oral assessments.
