Description
Reporting to the Commissioner, Community Services, this position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Facilities, Operations & Environment Division.  This includes accountability for facility operations, roads and parks maintenance, forestry, fleet and oversight of the corporate energy management and sustainability portfolio.  As a member of the Leadership Management Team this role uses operational and business expertise to support the goals and strategic direction of the municipality.   

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Provides leadership and direction related to short and long term planning for all areas of the division, ensuring that operational needs are met and are in alignment with the Corporate/Department priorities.
  • Manages the development of policy and program implementation related to the division while fostering continuous improvement and quality of service.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the division including coaching, mentoring and motivating staff to achieve corporate goals, and promotes effective employee and labour relations.
  • Plans, develops, manages and is accountable for the capital and operating budgets for all activities and projects related to the division; works with other divisions to ensure overall budgets are coordinated and aligned with Corporate direction.
  • Coordinates capital budget planning and forecast budget planning including any reports, regulations or studies related to operations; develops financial goals, key performance indicators and identification of new program initiatives and enhancements.
  • Provides strategic management of divisional planning needs for existing and new roads, parks and facilities, including maintenance of inventories and standards and needs assessments.
  • Develops, monitors and oversees third party agreements for services.
  • Liaises and works with staff, staff teams and stakeholders regarding Town service needs as it relates to various stages of development, re-construction and renovation of Town assets. 
  • Prepares Council reports and presents to Council as required.
  • Acts as the Corporate lead on property management with third party businesses and organizations and liaises with relevant Departments in this regard.
  • Responsible for the Corporate Climate Change annual work plan including but not limited to reporting, compliance and identification of future opportunities
  • Leads and/or participates in studies, education sessions and internal/external meetings to identify, assess, inform and define potential corporate green initiatives and/or partnerships
  • Liaises with Milton Hydro and other energy partners to capitalize on opportunities to partner on grant applications and capital projects
  • Provides inter-departmental coordination for Town sustainability projects and reports on Town-wide energy consumption

Salary & Benefits

Annual Salary Range: $148,965 - $186,206
