Reporting to the Director of Community and Development Services, the Manager of Economic Development, Tourism and Special Events shall be responsible for planning, managing, streamlining and providing oversight of the Municipality of Leamington’s Economic Development/Tourism programs and initiatives for business retention and expansion, promotion, and marketing. Responsibilities shall include the coordination of economic development/tourism related initiatives with other internal departments and liaising with relevant departments and agencies of the County of Essex, Provincial and Federal Governments, outside agencies and groups, and maintaining regular contact with the public on matters relating to economic development.

 

Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economic development, business administration, marketing, economics or a related field. A Master’s Degree in one of the stated disciplines is preferred.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years responsible experience in economic development, marketing or a closely related field, focusing on the attraction and retention of businesses, preferably in a municipal environment combined with Management experience.
  • Proven partnership skills in developing effective relationships with government, businesses and other agencies.
  • Experience in fund development and grant writing.
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices of economic development policy, administration and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of operations, services and activities of a comprehensive municipal economic development program.
  • Experience on analyzing and assessing economic development opportunities, programs, policies and operational needs.
  • Experience working with sensitive community and organizational issues.
  • Ability to communicate and prepare clear and concise administrative and financial reports, both orally and in writing.
  • Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license
Salary & Benefits

$84,748.39 to $95,729.29 annually and a comprehensive benefits package is included.
