Through demonstration of strong quantitative analysis skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail, the Manager, Policy and Sustainability will play a lead role in developing policy studies related to the Town’s Official Plan, secondary plans, growth management and conservation strategies and independently provide professional planning recommendations related to major, high profile development applications.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, Community Service, this role is to lead the Policy Planning Division for the formation and interpretation of land use policies in the Town’s Official Plan. You will provide recommendations and advice to the department head, Council, and members of the public on a wide variety of planning policy matters. You will represent the Town of Caledon before the Ontario Municipal Board and other environment and land tribunals to represent corporate planning interests. You will be responsible for developing strategic operational and capital plans to achieve the goals and objectives of the Policy Planning Section.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a self-motivated professional with training and knowledge of the above, normally acquired from a graduate degree in Planning, Urban Studies or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has 7 years' of increasingly responsible municipal planning experience and membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and/or Ontario Professional Planners Institute. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and skills in the application and interpretation of the Planning Act and other relevant legislations, policies, and guidelines. We are seeking an individual with superior interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to make decisions, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate for this position.
Grade 11: $103,536.09 - $129,070.65
