Through demonstration of strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and customer service, the Recreation Programmer, Aquatics/Arena will assist in the planning, development and execution of a variety of recreation programs for swimming and skating but not limited to youth, preschool, accessible recreation, adults, adult 60+ and summer camps.
Reporting directly to the Coordinator, Recreation you will also provide supervision to all contract and part time program staff and coordinates and oversees work for the various recreation program areas while ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with a post-secondary degree/diploma in Recreation Studies, or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years related experience in a recreation setting including direct programming, and a minimum of 1 year Supervisory experience where they have demonstrated performance management, leadership and team-building skills.
Must have:

Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certificationwith AED

Completion of Healthy Child Development (HIGH FIVE), additional certification (Quest 1, Quest 2 or Trainer) with HIGH FIVE would be an asset

Current Red Cross and Lifesaving Society Instructor, current National Lifeguard Society (Pool Option) certification

Must possess two of the following: Standard First Aid Instructor/Examiner, NLS Instructor/Examiner or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer

Aquatic Supervisory Training an asset

Knowledge in Certified Pool Operators and Basic Refrigeration an asset
Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
