Description
The City of St. Albert is seeking to hire a term Municipal Election Coordinator to assist with the execution of key plans to support a successful 2017 election.  This position will provide much of the logistical support for the municipal and school board elections comply with the Local Authorities Election Act and existing policies and procedures of the City.  

As the Election Coordinator, you will be responsible for the set up of the election office and voting stations, supply maintenance, and recruitment and training of Election Officials. You will oversee all advance votes, election day votes, and related activities.  Another key responsibility will include the final post election reporting.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Local Authorities Election Act and to make appropriate recommendations and support the election process. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to build relationships at all levels throughout the organization. You will provide leadership and direction to the election workers on election day.  

Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a related field. 
  • Previous Returning Officer training through Municipal Affairs or Elections Canada preferred. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Local Authorities Election Act.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to build relationships and engage with Election Officials.
  • Competency in standard office business tools.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and personal vehicle to be used for work purposes.
  • Able to regularly lift, carry and bulky items weighing up to 40 lbs. 
Salary & Benefits

HOURS OF WORK
This is a temporary hourly assignment where the incumbent will be expected to be available for, and assigned, increasing hours of work as the election date approaches. The incumbent must be available to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and be able to work evenings and weekends from October 1 – 16, 2017. 

COMPENSATION
$31.25 - $38.03 per hour. 

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check.
